The POTA Triple Header took place at Resaca De La Palma, Palo Alto National Battlefield, and Port Isabel Lighthouse.
Pre-Pota, we did a short walkabout at Resaca. Again, few birds, probably due to the lack of ground water. We did find a few interesting sights. They have had a small observatory for a number of years. This year, I think it has reproduced.
Palo Alto Battlefield is the site of one of the first battles of the U. S. - Mexican War. The reasons for these battles have faded, but what remains is a stark reminder of the intimacy of such a war. Battlelines were within rock throwing distance and many were buried where they fell.
While Leo did his POTA, I walked the battlefields. It was a windy, overcast day and not the best for photography.
I did find evidence of wildlife.
In the air, I watched a kite hunting. However, a caracara did not like the kite, chased after it, and then another kite joined the chase.
The final POTA spot of the day was at the Port Isabel Lighthouse. By the time we arrived at Port Isabel, the gateway to South Padre Island, the sky had cleared.
