Pedernales Falls State Park

One of the best things about this area is the availability of state parks. Pedernales Falls, outside of Johnson City, features, of course, a falls with miles of hiking and horse-back riding trails. There is also back to back bird blind where we saw a bit of bird variety.

How do you describe discovering Stonehenge in the hill country of Texas? How long has this been here in Pedernales, who designed it, and how did we miss it??

They have star-watching events here and it’s just amazing to walk around. The large blocks of limestone are positioned with cardinal points and there is an angled hole through the upper part of the obelisk. What does this mean, what does it pinpoint in the sky, and I’m sure other questions for which I do not have answers.
