We started the day looking for Redhead Pond, a birding site. After arriving, Redhead Pond looks like it suffered from the last storm season and was not conducive to either hiking or parking. Our second option was Mustang Island.
The day was nice, the beach was open, and walking along the surf was great. Mustang Island is another of the beaches that allow parking/driving.
There were the usual shore birds, herns, terns, and laughing gulls.
I enjoyed watching the sanderling hunt whatever it was hunting. The hole in the sand was evidence of the hunt.
The Willett looked so elegant as it walked along the beach. I also like the picture of the gull and the willett enjoying the surf.
