Marquette, MI - Part Five

Odds and Ends. Here are some sites around Marquette.

This is the icon red lighthouse of Marquette. I can't imagine the things seen by the lighthouse keepers who lived in this house.

Here is the mural in process in downtown Marquette. Notice the flowers blooming on the street lamp!

A karman ghia and a metro, both green.

Downtown Marquette is the home of Trenary Toast. The toast is a Finnish specialty called rusk, like a crouton with cinnamon and sugar.

And finally, there was the flying cow at the dairy, the lovely angel at the park, and the deer that meandered around the house.

This thirteen-lined ground squirrel joined us for lunch a number of times at Presque Isle Park.

At the local post office was a mural of Father Marquette's arrival.

We found these markers at Presque Isle Park. At one time, it looks like there was a zoo in the park. We saw no evidence of it.

Also, this marker for a time capsule shows the scheduled opening is next year.

And finally, the strangely shaped stone is copper ore. A marker describes the importance of copper to the area.
