Legacy Trail - Lexington

The Lexington and Georgetown area has many trails. We walked part of the paved 8-mile Legacy Trail, starting at the trailhead near the Kentucky Horse Park. We didn't realize there was a Texas connection along the trail.

Miles Franklin Yount, one of the owners of Spindletop Oil Field, established Spindletop Stables in Beaumont. After Yount died in 1933, his wife, Pansy, moved to Lexington and established Spindletop Farms. Pansy left Lexington in the 1950s, giving the mansion to the University of Kentucky.
