Kentucky Horse Park - Lexington, KY

rvtramm75

Kentucky Horse Park is a working horse farm, educational theme park, and equine competition facility set on more than 1,200 acres near Lexington. There are daily equine presentations of past race winners, draft animals, and international breeds. There are two museums, the International Museum of the Horse, a Smithsonian Affiliate, is the world's largest equestrian museum, and the American Saddlebred Museum, which celebrates Kentucky's first native breed of horse. The grounds are beautiful and spread across the facility are horse sculptures. Also across the grounds are graves of horses, including Secretariat and Man o'War.

We planned on an early day at the park. Our early day turned into the hottest and most humid day Kentucky had seen. After going to the race winner shows, seeing the draft horses, and the international breeds, we were so drained, that we decided to make it a two-day visit, going to the museums tomorrow. Luckily, our tickets were for two days.

Both of the museums are fabulous. If you love horses, this is your place.

There was some sort of event taking place while we were there.
