Johnson City Christmas Lights - December 20

rvtramm75

Many of the towns in the Hill Country put on quite a Christmas light show. Johnson City, named for LBJ's grandfather, is the county seat of Blanco County and the home of Pedernales Electric Cooperative. Perhaps the city gets their electricity for a good rate???

We arrived early to the lighting of the trees at the PEC office. Notice the difference in the before and after photos.

Here's my usual LBJ shout-out. I posted this marker on Facebook and was reminded that besides being a raging populist, LBJ was also a bit of an SOB. Whichever side you fall on, the man helped electrify the Hill Country of Texas. I am old enough to remember the value of the REA (Rural Electric Association) in Oklahoma.

Every tree on the PEC block is wrapped in lights. There was a collective sigh when the trees flashed to life at 6:00 pm.

Downtown Johnson City and the Blanco County Courthouse are not to be outdone. There were crowds everywhere and Christmas music filled the air. Santa did not make an appearance while we were there, but I bet some kids sure thought he would.
