Goliad State Park - February 26

rvtramm75

Another cold, rainy day. We have decided this trip will be known as the cold, damp, north wind trip.

We drove around the town square and I was amazed. I don’t think I have ever seen so many historical markers around a town square. There were five on the courthouse lawns and three others close by. But, remember, this is Goliad.

One of the markers on the courthouse square notes the hanging tree. A sad convenience, a hanging tree just outside of the courthouse.

These were the others close to the courthouse.

There are four markers at Goliad State Park. The centerpiece of the park is the Mission Espíritu Santo which was restored by the CCC in the 30s.
