Another state park that has been converted to a world birding center, Estero, near Weslaco, also seems to be suffering from a lack of water. The reeds and the Whistling Black-Bellied Ducks have taken over what little water is left. We heard work along the Rio Grande on the Wall chases the ducks north. We walked the trails and enjoyed the beautiful weather.
I chased butterflies, hummingbirds, and lizards.
Thanks to the kindness of strangers, we saw two owls, an eastern screech and a great horned.
