Besides the reservoir, there is also a 75-acre lake that is part of the park. We noticed there were signs warning of alligators. However, we saw no sign of alligators.
The water birds were everywhere and some posed.
These are the ones we could name: Bufflehead, Turkey Vulture, American Coot, American Wigeon, and finally the Common Gallinule.
An osprey and an egret had perched on the shore away from us. They were involved in personal grooming and were not concerned with us.
Choke Canyon has facilities for groups, etc. We drove up for a historical marker shot and saw more of the peccary (javelina). They are so acclimated to people.
